The Day Before Launch: Going Home to Lititz During Harvest.
Who says you can’t go home again? Reporter Sarah Chain certainly disagrees.
The official launch will be held tomorrow night at Lititz Mennonite Church, 165 Front Street, Lititz, Pennsylvania. 7 p.m. If you live close by, please join us! We’ll have a party, and we’ll relive a little Lancaster Conference Mennonite Church history in the place that first shaped my spiritual life.
As you read these words, I will be traveling with Stuart. We’ll pick up daughter Kate at the train station in Lancaster and then descend upon sister Sue on her farm near Ephrata. Her husband Tom will be on his tractor, straining to bring in an enormous corn crop, saving it from the last danger — storm damage.
It’s harvest time now. I’ve watched this crop grow to amazing heights as we traveled to Lancaster County several times in both spring and summer. Now is the time for harvest, literally and figuratively. I too have been planting and weeding and watering. Publishing a book requires all of these.
And now, finally, for me and Herald Press/MennoMedia too, it’s harvest time.
Am I excited? Yes!
Am I scared? Yes!
Must be time to enter another New Beginning. You have one more day to do the same. Tomorrow I will announced the winner.
And tomorrow you can order a book without a delay. You can get the book instantly by e-book download. You can order both at Herald Press (above) and at Amazon: Blush: A Mennonite Girl Meets a Glittering World.
Wishing you lots of joy at the launch and a little bit of pride in your achievement (are you allowed that?). I’m really looking forward to downloading the book. x
Launch night was wonderful beyond my expectations, Warm Ginger. Thank you for your good wishes. I downloaded the book yesterday and like the way it looks. Hope you do too. All best and let’s stay in touch.
Hope the launch went well, Shirley. Just got your book and hope to start reading it tonight!
I hope you enjoy, Richard. I wish you could have heard us sing last night. What a wonderful privilege it was to share a book with the people of my own hometown. I wish everyone could be so blessed.
Received my copy of the book yesterday — & enjoyed it so much! You captured well many of the experiences & emotions I felt growing up Mennonite in Lancaster County in the 50’s & 60’s. Enjoy the launch! And, if you blush, may it be with joy!
Sue, I am so moved by your words. Thank you. I did blush with joy last night. Such an appropriate blessing. If you feel moved to review the book on Amazon, I would be most grateful. Thank you.
