Friends. Here’s a chance for us to hear each other’s voices, literally.

Let's talk!

I will be speaking on a roundtable along with the fabulous authors Tracy Seeley and Linda Joy Myers, whom you may have met in previous posts and comments on this blog. Linda Joy will interview Tracy and me on the tantalizing subject of landscapes of the mind and body–the role of place in our personal stories. Tracy’s recently published memoir explores her return to her Kansas roots in Ruby Red Slippers. Check it out!

In preparation for the conversation, both Tracy and I wrote unique blog posts which we contributed to the National Association of Memoir Writers website.

Please join the three of us tomorrow at 7 p.m. EST. To sign up, just register here. It’s Free!

And if you have a question or comment, please identify yourself as a reader of this blog so that I can meet you!

Your friend,

Shirley

Gardening at Herrbrook is at a fever-pitch just now with this cool, moist season, but I can’t resist the lure of your topic Thursday evening.
    Thanks for this opportunity, Shirley.

Mary Lou, great to have you join us on the talk–and in the comments section here.
I’m honored to compete with your amazing gardening commitment. Since we will be talking about place, it will be great to have your thoughts about the soil itself–humus, humility, humor. I think I’ve heard Parker Palmer talk about the connections between these ideas.

Sorry I have to miss this, I just did a unit on place in memoir with a class last night. Tomorrow night my monthly class meets so I can’t make your tele meeting. I’m sure it will be interesting!

Annette, there may be a way to access a recording after the phone call. I will check and post if there is.

Would love to know your ideas about place and favorite examples. Want to do a guest post?

Great call, Shirley. I truly enjoyed and learned from your thoughts. There will be a link to listen to the recording. People need to sign up on the NAMW website to get it, and it will only last a couple of weeks. It isn’t too late to sign up: http://www.namw.org.

Sharon, thanks so much for this help for all readers! I highly recommend my partners on the call, Tracy Seeley and Linda Joy Myers. What delightful conversationalists and what a good set of questions came from the listeners. Hope more people can benefit from the recording. My own interest in and understanding of place has been enhanced immeasurably.
